Michael J. Patchin

Michael J. Patchin, Partner

Assisted multiple generations of Northern Minnesota families with estate and succession planning, including:
-   Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives and titling of assets
-   Helping clients plan for long-term care and nursing home expenses

-   Represented many individuals and companies in connection with real estate transactions, including land purchases, sales, mortgages and other conveyances

With over 30 years of experience, Mike Patchin has helped hundreds of Northern Minnesota families plan for the future.  Oftentimes, securely and cost-effectively preserving assets for loved ones is of greatest concern.  Sometimes a sudden life change — the death of a loved one, a parent needs to enter a nursing home, a serious health issue — requires an immediate, well-informed plan of action to navigate the legal process.

“People want to protect their assets for themselves and their loved ones,” said Patchin.

Mr. Patchin’s goal is to assist clients in establishing an estate plan that:

1. Assures that the intended recipients receive their proper share
2. Reduces or eliminates liability for payment of nursing home expenses and taxes
3. Avoids unnecessary probate costs and other expenses and delays involved with the distribution of the client’s assets
4. While minimizing the attorney’s fees and costs in preparing the estate planning documents and implementing the estate plan

Mr. Patchin is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and a member of the Elder Law Section and Real Property Sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
