Colosimo, Patchin, Kearney, & Brunfelt, Ltd. is a multi-specialty law firm
located on the Mesaba Range area of northeastern Minnesota. The firm evolved from
two old and honored Iron Range law firms: Westerlund & Belanger, and Greenberg &
Greenberg. The firm was founded by former high school classmates Gary Bloomquist and
John Mark Colosimo in 1973. In 1974, Malcom H. Greenberg became a partner in the firm,
and the firm became known as Greenberg, Bloomquist & Colosimo, Ltd. At that time, it
had offices in both Eveleth and Virginia, Minnesota.
Michael J. Patchin joined the firm right out of the University of Minnesota Law School in
1976, and has been with the firm since that time.
Terrence M. Aronson and Michael K. Kearney later joined the firm and the firm became
known as Colosimo, Patchin, Aronson & Kearney, Ltd.
The latest incarnation of the firm includes its two latest additions:
Mitchel J. Brunfelt, who formerly interned and clerked with the law firm during law
school, joined the firm in the late 1990's having been general counsel and chief litigator
for AFSCME Council 65, AFL-CIO.
Most of the lawyers in the firm have deep roots in northeastern Minnesota and are
originally from the Mesaba Range area. Attorney Michael Patchin came to the firm from
Hutchinson, Minnesota, but has been well received by the people of this area and is
considered as a respected "adopted" son.
The law firm prides itself on the competence and loyalty of its support personnel.
Several have been with the firm for in excess of 20 years. The lawyers and support
personnel have a working alliance which allows the firm to achieve a high level of
professional success and competence while at the same time providing legal services
efficiently and economically.
Colosimo, Patchin, Kearney, & Brunfelt, Ltd. is admitted to all federal and state
courts in Minnesota, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Colosimo is also
admitted to the Bar of the state of North Dakota, and does some work in eastern North
Dakota.
