Mitchell graduated from Moorhead State University Summa Cum Laude and received his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in 1995. He has been admitted to practice before the Minnesota State and Federal Courts.

Mitchell is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Mitchell spent several years as the general counsel for AFSCME Council Number 65 AFL - CIO before returning to the firm.

Mitchell's areas of practice include: labor and employment law and litigation and personal injury.
